Loss Scenario Mock Trial Part 1: The Case

Please join us for part one of a two-part webinar series presented by the Legal & Regulatory IG that will cover aspects of the underwriting, claims handling, and insurance-related litigation process via a "mock-trial" format.  A loss scenario will be dramatized via a role play format and a lawsuit will be commenced. The trial will be covered in Part 2, planned for early 2024. Key takeaways from this webinar include: Understanding the duty of care that an agent and broker owes to an insured during the underwriting process; Understanding how brokers’ practices in communications and creation of expectations on the part of insurance buyers may affect the scope of brokers’ duties of care; Discussing the insured and insurers reciprocal duty of good faith and fair dealing; Discussing the scope and limitations of typical commercial property coverages in the face of a storm losses; Discussing how professional liability claims against insurance brokers are resolved, including use of lawsuits for damages; Understanding the role and use of expert witnesses in the preparation and trial of professional liability and coverage disputes
