Assessing Risk Associated With the Opioid Crisis

This webinar will examine in detail the societal and (re)insurance implications associated with the opioid crisis. The session will begin with a discussion of the origins of the opioid crisis, detail the status of the various opioid suits and forecast where this crisis will lead in the years ahead.  Attendees will gain understanding of (re)insurance coverage issues as well as lines of business that may be affected as the crisis unfolds.

Tim Fletcher, JD, CPCU
Tim Fletcher is the emerging issues leader for Gen Re, where he identifies and communicates emerging issues and exposures to Gen Re clients and internal colleagues. In this role, Tim also serves as a strategic thought partner with clients, creating underwriting responses to identified issues and exposures. He is admitted to the Georgia bar and serves a guest lecturer on risk management and insurance at Georgia State University. 

 

Michael S. Olsan, JD
Michael S. Olsan, partner, is chair of the Commercial Litigation Department and Reinsurance Group at White and Williams LLP. In this role, he manages over 75 attorneys practicing in commercial litigation, insurance coverage, cyber law and data privacy, labor and employment, and more. Michael is also a member of the firm’s Executive and Partner Compensation committees and serves as dean of the White and Williams Coverage College. He is a frequent speaker at reinsurance seminars and a fellow of the Academy of Advocacy of Temple University. Since 2007, his peers have selected him as a Pennsylvania "super lawyer."

Lisa Simon, JD, CPCU, ARe
Lisa Simon is a vice president and claims expert at Swiss Re, based in Armonk, New York. In this role, she manages reinsurance claims involving asbestos, pollution, and health hazard exposures and is a core member of several teams that track emerging risks, including the 4Thought Board and the Global Claims Resources Network. Lisa is former chair of the Reinsurance Association of America's Emerging Issues Working Group and current co-chair of the CLM's Cannabis Committee. She holds the CPCU, ARe, and RPLU designations.
