What is something you wish everybody knew about the CPCU Society?
We work in a relationship industry. The CPCU Society brings people with similar interests together and provides us with the opportunity to get to know each other, broaden our horizons, and learn from each other.
CPCU Society members are passionate about their work. Some call this "geeking out" or being an "insurance nerd." What have YOU been trying to get better at recently, and what was helpful to you?
I work assisting agencies in using the agency management system their agency has selected to service, market, or to find opportunities to sell additional business to existing clients. Staying educated on insurance and risk management helps me when speaking with and building relationships with agents.
Some people think there's more to life than insurance and risk management. If you agree, tell us about something else you're passionate about.
Faith is more than insurance and risk management, it’s eternity. Your family and friends are also important aspects of who you are, and what is important in your life. I volunteer for an industry group called AUGIE Group, a not-for-profit organization open to all in the industry who are involved in the independent agent distribution channel. I also enjoy having fun, traveling and golfing. I have been blessed with my best friend and husband, Stu Durland, of 38+ years. We don't agree on everything -- especially football teams -- but we do agree that insurance and risk management have been great for our collective careers.
