Patrick G. Schmid, PhD is an economist and the president of The Institutes’ RiskStream Collaborative, a risk management and insurance blockchain and emerging technology consortium. He works with RiskStream’s member-led governance boards and oversees RiskStream’s products, relationship management, operations, and technology workstreams. Dr. Schmid offers blockchain and emerging technology thought leadership for The Institutes and coordinates the RiskStream’s consortium of insurers, brokers and reinsurers with industry participants and technical partners in developing production applications that can lower costs, improve customer experience, and drive efficiency across the insurance industry. Patrick was the 2018 recipient of the International Insurance Society’s Leaders of Tomorrow award. 

Patrick has a MA and a PhD in economics from Temple University. He has taught economics and finance at several Philadelphia-area colleges and universities including Albright College, Drexel, Saint Joseph’s, Temple, and Wharton. Prior to working in the insurance industry, he worked as an economist for Moody's Analytics, monitoring various economic indicators, creating forecasts and blogging on monetary policy.

Greg Davenport

Greg is a senior vice president at Liberty Mutual Surety in Seattle, Washington. Over his 42-year career in the surety industry Greg has had responsibilities for underwriting, operations & strategy, marketing, finance, communications, training, business process management and agile development, supporting operations in 18 countries.

Greg has actively worked to bring electronic bonding to the surety and construction industries for the past 25 years. He is past chair of the Surety and Fidelity Association of America’s e-Business Advisory Committee and ACORD’s Surety Standards Subcommittee. He served on ACORD’s Global Standards Committee, the oversight committee responsible for the development and convergence of international data standards for the insurance and surety industries. He participates on NASBP’s Automation and Technology committee and the surety working group for XBRL, the international financial standards organization. Greg chaired the International Credit Insurance and Surety Association’s blockchain working group and is presently chair of The Institute’s RiskStream Collaborative Surety Advisory Committee.

Hong Guo is EVP and Chairman, (Re)insurance at Arbol, a technology company specializing in data driven parametric financial and (re)insurance products using AI underwriting, advanced data infrastructure and end-to-end digital process. Hong provides the vision of building a new type of underwriting organization of the future by leveraging the vast technology resources available at Arbol and leads the implementation of building the (re)insurance business. Since joining Arbol in 2021, Hong has led the team to build various programs underwriting on behalf of alternative capital, Lloyd’s and rated insurers and reinsurers.
 
Prior to Arbol, Hong has over 30 years of global reinsurance experience including 24 years at Guy Carpenter holding senior positions across a wide range of business areas including reinsurance transactions, product innovation, global client management, Insurance Linked Securities and M&A advisory.
