Cancellation of CPCU Society Leadership Summit

As you are surely aware by now, the CDC recommends that for the next 8 weeks, organizers cancel or postpone in-person events that consist of 50 people or more throughout the U.S. Because of the many unknown and developing variables, along with the growing concerns about the spread of COVID-19, the CPCU Society has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Leadership Summit scheduled for April 30 to May 2 in Portland. We had implemented as many precautions as possible to mitigate the spread of the virus at the summit in order to minimize the risk to our members but, given the continued spread around the country, the significant number of company travel bans, and the CDC’s recommendation, we feel the safest course of action is to cancel the summit. We will be exploring if holding this meeting in a few months makes sense.

The CPCU Society is an amazing community. The welfare of our members is our top priority. While the majority of cases of COVID-19 have symptoms described as similar to the common cold, at-risk populations are experiencing devastating symptoms and outcomes. We want to protect our members and registrants along with their families, communities, and organizations.

We are offering three options for the cancellation of your registration:
1. Transfer your registration to the 2021 Leadership Summit (date/location TBD) or to the postponed 2020 Leadership Summit to be held at a later date if possible (dates TBD).
2. Transfer the amount paid towards registration at the 2020 In2Risk Conference (formally the Annual Meeting) taking place October 8-10 in Washington, D.C.
3. Request a refund of your registration fee. All hotel rooms booked through the CPCU web link will be cancelled.

All hotel rooms booked through the CPCU web link will be cancelled.

We will be in touch with sponsors about options to transfer or refund your sponsorship to another event. We will also be in touch with all speakers with options to hold your session at a future event or in some other format. We certainly want to preserve all the hard work that has gone into creating the educational sessions planned for this meeting.

The CPCU staff are all working remotely right now. We appreciate your patience as we work through the transfers/refunds and address the educational sessions and sponsorships. We are appreciative of the strength of our community and thank you for your continued support. Even though we can’t gather in person, perhaps we can gather remotely in the future. Stay tuned for more details.
