Peter Nyarko Dennis is the head of the retail and SME unit at Star Assurance LTD, a leading non-life insurance company in Ghana. With over 15 years of industry experience, Peter has developed expertise in underwriting, branch operations, sales, strategy, risk management, and the application of digital tools to drive business growth and client value.

He holds a BSc in business administration and an MBA in finance from the University of Ghana Business School. He has also earned several professional designations from The Institutes, including the CPCU in 2022.

Peter is the CPCU Society's International Ambassador for 2024/25.

Stephen Portelli is a seasoned risk management professional currently serving as regional leader of Europe & IMEA captive solutions at Marsh, where he has built an impressive 18-year career advancing through positions including senior vice president and international operations optimization leader. With a passionate focus on captive insurance as a strategic risk management tool, Stephen brings extensive financial expertise developed during his previous roles as CFO at Attrad & Co. and senior auditor at KPMG across Ireland, Luxembourg, and Malta. His academic credentials include a Master's degree in innovation and creativity from UOM (2004-2006) and a B.A. (Honours) in accountancy from the University of Malta (1992-1997), complementing his professional expertise in accounting, enterprise risk management, and finance.

 

David Galea, ACII, RIMAP

David Galea began his career in an MGA for Lloyd's Syndicates within the commercial claims department, after which he joined Middlesea Insurance PLC (now a member of the Mapfre Group). While primarily handling commercial claims, he took an active role in numerous high-profile projects and transactions, including loss portfolio transfers (LPTs), business continuity planning (BCP), Baden Baden and Monte Carlo reinsurance reporting, and IT migration projects.

In 2006, he joined Marsh Captive Solutions in Malta, and for the past 20 years has been actively involved in managing a diverse portfolio of international and complex clients ranging from pure captives to affinity-type captives and large commercial insurers. During this time, he has advised and supported clients in Malta and across continental Europe on numerous strategic projects, helping them maximize their captives' potential.
