The first step to winning up to $1,500 is signing up to compete in the 2022 Student Competition. Don’t delay, this competition is limited to 25 students!* The deadline has been extended!  Sign up by Wednesday, August 17.

Eligible students will be asked to submit a 4–5 page essay on a selected topic and finalists will present their work to a panel of judges. Three winners will be selected. Keep reading for more details and to sign up.
 

Essay | Explore Emerging Issues in Risk Management

Students will be asked to submit an essay (between 1,000–1,500 words) on one of the following emerging issues in the risk management and insurance industry:

  • Political tensions and the impact on cyber insurance
  • Insurance implications of the supply chain crisis
  • Regulation of market expansion
  • Aerospace and space insurance

Additional details, including full essay prompts, will be sent to our 25 competition participants.

 

Content and Judging:

Submissions will be judged on the quality of analysis, quality of research, form, style, and mechanics. Successful entries will answer all aspects of the prompt. The top three essays will advance to the final round of judging, that includes a virtual presentation, that will determine who places first, second, and third. All qualifying essays will be judged blind.

Qualifications to Participate:

  • Must be a full-time undergraduate student who has not yet been employed in the risk management industry
  • Be part of the first 25 students to sign-up by the August 17 deadline
  • Be able to meet identified deadlines

Key Dates:

  • Sign-up deadline – Aug. 17
  • Essays due – Sept. 12
  • Top 3 Finalists Notified – Oct. 3
  • Final Round Presentations – Week of Oct. 24

Prizes:

Winners will receive one the following:
  • 1st Place - $1,500
  • 2nd Place - $1,000
  • 3rd Pace - $500

 
* Winners of last year's competition are not eligible to compete. The first 25 students to sign-up will be eligible to compete.
