Intro to Plans and Specifications for Insurance Claims

Presenters: Brendon Field, Steve Todd, PE and Tredessa T. Travers MBA, CPCU, AIC (Moderator)

Oct. 13, at 2 p.m. ET

Two of the key document’s adjusters have to guide them when reconstructing a building after a large loss are the plans and the specifications. In a perfect world, those two documents seamlessly mesh together and support one another. The plans are a set of scaled drawings that show contractors what they are building. The specifications (or specs) are a written document that details what materials will be used and how to install things.

By the end of this session insurance professionals will better understand the fundamental layout of plans, key information contained in specifications and why understanding plans helps adjusters write more accurate estimates when handling a total loss to a structure.
