How to Select an Expert Witness
April 23,2024
Please join us for a webinar that will focus on the skill and credentials of an expert witness.  This will include analysis as to the extent of the engagement, the underlying issues that are being litigated, and the type of expert witness that will best present the evidence. Audience members who attend this webinar will leave with a better understanding of the services offered by expert witnesses -- as consultants or as testifying witnesses, how to evaluate the type of expert witness necessary to “tell the story” to the jury, and how to review a CV or resume for the expertise needed.
Exploring the Evolving Landscape of Electric Vehicle Risks
April 30,2024
Join us for an update to the popular 2023 In2Risk session on electric vehicle risks. We’re in a moment of profound automotive transformation as the internal combustion engine slowly gives way to the electric vehicle (EV). The transition to EVs won’t simply mean a new type of vehicle on the road, but a new and evolving ecosystem of potential risks for insurers to contemplate. This session will explore what that new ecosystem may look like--from battery fires and cyber threats to potentially fragile battery supply chains, and new use cases such as connecting EVs to electrical grids. The transition to EVs will have broad impacts likely well beyond the vehicles themselves, touching property, cyber, supply chain, and ESG concerns. Attendees will learn how EVs may differ from traditional vehicles in terms of safety and better understand some of the potential issues facing the rollout of EVs, including lithium-ion battery fires, and the cyber risks to EVs and EV charging networks. They’ll also learn about some of the potential evolving risks surrounding EVs, including bi-directional charging and supply chain threats.
Baltimore's Key Bridge: Insurance Impact
May 7,2024
On March 26, 2024, a container ship struck the Key Bridge in Baltimore, MD, which collapsed into the Patapsco River, killing six workers. Considering the tragic loss of life, along with the bridge’s role as a major thoroughfare and the impact on the port of Baltimore, the losses are significant. Recovery will be time-consuming and costly, with many parties involved. In this webinar, editors Karen Sorrell, CPCU and Christine Barlow, CPCU from FC&S Expert Coverage Interpretation will discuss the insurance implications of the bridge collapse and the suspension of the port. Steven Weiss, chief underwriting officer at Incarnation, LLC, will discuss the marine aspects and ramifications for the industry. For more information, check out presenter Karen Sorrell's recent article,“7 commercial insurance exposures from the Baltimore bridge collapse.” This webinar is open to the public. Registration is free and easy. Simply create an account and add the webinar to your cart. There will be no charge at checkout.
