Chicago Northwest Suburban Chapter Celebrates 40th Anniversary and 99 New Designees
At a meeting with record attendance, the Chicago-Northwest Suburban CPCU Society Chapter celebrated two milestones on September 8: its 40th anniversary and 99th new designee!
To honor its past, the chapter celebrated with three charter members present: Ray Normann, Bill Ross and Bill Smith. Each was presented with a certificate of recognition and CPCU® gifts for their contributions to the chapter’s founding.
Normann relayed how he became the first president of the chapter. The presidency was decided on a coin toss, but he honestly could not remember if he won or lost that toss.
Also present were other past presidents. A few no longer live in the area, so members were particularly pleased and appreciative that they decided to make the trip to attend.
In honor of the occasion, everyone in attendance received a computer mouse pad that shows the chapter’s logo and highlights its 40th anniversary. In addition, a photographer commemorated the occasion by taking individual photos of all attendees who wanted to pose.
Also wishing to celebrate its future, the chapter honored the 99 new designees affiliated with it, 35 of whom were able to attend the September meeting. Those who attended as paid chapter members were placed in a drawing to receive a $500 gift card, intended to absorb charges from their trip to The Institutes CPCU Society Annual Meeting in Honolulu, Hawaii. The winner was Michael Arens, CPCU.
All of the new designees also received a special T-shirt. The Chicago-Northwest Suburban CPCU Society Chapter logo appears on the back of it, while the front has a silhouette of a palm tree and this message: “I studied hard and earned my CPCU designation, and all my chapter gave me was this T-shirt?!!!!”
All were encouraged to wear their shirts proudly, regardless of whether they attended the Annual Meeting, and to share pictures of themselves in the shirts via the chapter’s Instagram site.
