The Workers Compensation Opt-Out/Option Debate: Why You Should Care

Thursday, October 20, 2016  2:00 pm Eastern

What it’s about:

Ever since Oklahoma implemented an option law for workers compensation in 2014, several other states have considered similar legislation. This webinar reviews provisions of the Oklahoma law and similar legislation proposed in Tennessee and South Carolina. It also looks at court decisions that have declared some aspects of the Oklahoma law unconstitutional. In addition, the webinar addresses cost savings to business owners in Oklahoma and Texas, where employers have created workers compensation option plans.

At the conclusion of this webinar, the active participant will understand:

  • Why states are considering implementing opt-out/option legislation
  • Court challenges that have been mounted against opt-out/option legislation
  • The potential benefits to employers and workers at companies that have implemented option plans
  • The cost savings to employers that have implemented option plans

Who should attend:

Workers compensation underwriters, risk managers, business owners, and state legislators and insurance regulators will benefit from this webinar.
