Risk in Shades of Green

The popularity of sustainable design and construction is gaining ground in the United States, and insurance professionals are being asked to provide coverage for new building techniques. We will discuss claims issues that are expected to arise as “green” building continues to grow, and we will examine new risks created by society’s desire for environmentally safe and sustainable building design and construction.

Emerging Issues: Looking beyond the Horizon

This program will examine risks that insurance professionals will need to face due to technology; environmental change; and scientific discovery. In order to best serve the consuming public, insurance must respond to new and daring issues. Underwriters will need to be aware of the emerging risk exposures in order to develop products that will respond to the ever change risk landscape. Producers and agents will require additional skills to assist their clients in analyzing new and changing risk exposures. Claims professionals will be required to understand how the emerging risks can lead to injury and damage; how coverage is applied to the occurrence; and how to resolve issues that arise once a claim has been reported.
