GDPR: Preparing for Data Protection's Day of Reckoning

Presented by the Information Technology and International Insurance Interest Groups and Europe Chapter

Thursday, May 17, 2018  11:00 am Eastern

What it’s about:

Cyber privacy and data protection are about to get thrown for a loop. The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a new, game-changing law that aims to give control of personal data to citizens, and is going into effect in the European Union on May 25th of this year. New regulations cover consent and retention time for data collection, as well as obligations for protection and data breaches, in essence giving the power back to the people to say who, what, how and when to share their personal information.

But if you’re not in the EU, don’t think you’re off the hook. These laws will also cover all entities that interact with even a single EU citizen, meaning every company that does any business internationally will be affected. This webinar will cover the basics of GDPR and explore how risk managers, underwriters, agents and brokers in the United States will be impacted and what insurers can do now to be prepared and protected.

Who should attend:

Agents and brokers, underwriters, and risk managers involved in international business would benefit from attending this webinar.
