Captive Insurers: Bridging Innovation and Technology

Thursday, July 25, 2019  2:00 pm Eastern

Presented by the Risk Management and International Interest Groups

What it’s about:
Did you know there are over 7,000 captive insurers worldwide? While the number of captives is increasing, they are also continuously adapting and innovating to meet the needs of their owners and members. Explore the basics of captive insurance, the composition of the captive market, and the reasons for forming a captive. Learn about the explosive growth of small captives and the benefits they provide. Examine how to use a captive to provide new types of risk-transfer products, such as parametric insurance, and to finance new types of risks, such as those arising from digital technologies and complex supply chains. Explore innovative captive strategies driven by advances in behavioral science, technology, and data analytics that are lowering the cost of losses and allowing for dynamic risk pricing. Through a case study approach, learn how Tall Pines Insurance Company (TPIC), a captive insurer, has adapted and evolved over several years to expand its product and service offerings and has implemented innovative risk solutions, taking advantage of new technologies and providing cost savings to its parent, NL Industries.

At the end of this webinar, active attendees will understand:

  • The reasons for forming a captive insurer and the composition of the captive market
  • How to use a captive to provide new types of risk-transfer products and finance new types of risks
  • How to recommend an innovative captive insurer strategy that takes advantage of advances in behavioral science, technology, and data analytics

Who should attend:
Risk managers, risk management staff, and any insurance professional interested in captive insurers would benefit from attending this webinar.
