The legalization of marijuana has been one of the most confusing legal events the insurance industry has faced. Dr. Brenda Wells will walk attendees through the history of legalization, and will discuss its impact on the property-casualty insurance industry. 

At the conclusion of this webinar, the active participant will understand:

  • Underwriting and claims implications of legal cannabis
  • Workplace issues related to the legalization of cannabis

Brenda Wells, Ph.D., CPCU, AAI

Brenda Wells is the Robert F. Bird Distinguished Scholar of Risk and Insurance at East Carolina University. During her career she has taught courses including commercial liability, commercial property, and insurer operations.  Brenda has a long history of forming and mentoring student organizations and has a wide range of experience in public relations and fundraising.  She has published articles in Journal of Insurance Regulation, CPCU Journal, and others.  Her consulting firm offers a wide range of services to risk management and insurance professionals, including social media consulting, custom seminar delivery, and preparation of expert opinions and testimony.  More information about her firm can be found at

How do I report my CE for CPCUs credit?

Webinars count for 1 hour of CE for CPCUs credit. Your credit will be automatically reported with your registration for a live webinar. You can also earn CE for CPCUs credit by viewing recorded webinars though the Knowledge Center. All webinars watched in the Knowledge Center will be automatically reported for 1 credit.

Are CPCU Society webinars approved for state licensure CE?

At this time none of the webinars are approved for CE in any state.
