What is something you wish everybody knew about the CPCU Society?
The CPCU Society has provided me opportunities to learn about and do things I never thought I would have an interest in. For example, I have become a social media geek because of my work with the Claims Interest Group. I’ve landed other board roles with other insurance organizations because I’ve learned about marketing and social media tactics through my work in the CPCU Society. And I’ve learned that “going viral” is kind of fun!
CPCU Society members are passionate about their work. Some call this "geeking out" or being an "insurance nerd." What have YOU been trying to get better at recently, and what was helpful to you?
I have been radically re-thinking my approach to learning and exploring a lot of avenues of engagement with insurance influencers outside my “knowledge sphere.” My ability to relate to these individuals comes in part from my confidence in the knowledge I gained from the CPCU programI have also been inspired to stretch myself to learn things I never thought I could learn.
Some people think there's more to life than insurance and risk management. If you agree, tell us about something else you're passionate about?
I consider my job and what I do the gateway to my personal love: travel and writing. What’s very cool is that I get to indulge both of those passions through my work and the CPCU Society.
