About the CPCU Society

Committed to Advancing Your Career
The Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters (CPCU) Society is a community of credentialed property and casualty insurance professionals who promote excellence through ethical behavior and continuing education.

The Society's more than 28,000 members hold the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation, which requires passing rigorous undergraduate- and graduate-level examinations, meeting experience requirements, and agreeing to be bound by a strict code of professional ethics.

Founded in 1944, the CPCU Society's mission is to "meet the career development needs of a diverse membership of professionals who have earned the CPCU designation, so that they may serve others in a competent and ethical manner."

The CPCU Society offers tremendous opportunities that will help you propel your career to new heights. It also works hard to spread the message about the value of the CPCU designation to the industry and the public. Here are just a few of the benefits of membership:

  • Continuing Education Opportunities—
Sharpen your skills with seminars, workshops, and symposia.

  • Professional Development Programs—
Enrich your career with leadership training, public speaking opportunities, courses from our prestigious CPCU Society Center for Leadership, and more.

  • Local and Global Networking—
Interact on a local level by joining one of 148 chapters in the United States, Bermuda, Europe, Japan, and Korea; and, network with other CPCUs who share your area of professional expertise by joining one of 14 interest groups.

  • Valuable Job Bank—
Take advantage of our CPCU Society Job Network to post your résumé, build a personal career profile, and review job openings. This is also a critical resource for insurance industry employers and recruiters.

  • News and Ongoing Communications—
Stay connected with CPCU e-LINK, our monthly e-newsletter. You can also stay current on industry news with our monthly e-zine, CPCU eJournal, our bimonthly printed publication CPCU News, and the Society’s various interest group newsletters. We also offer discounted subscriptions on industry publications.
  • Discounted Business Services—
Privileges for members extend to a variety of business services, low group insurance rates, and high-tech conferencing services.
