CPCU Society Organization
The CPCU Society is governed by a network of directors, committees, task forces, chapters, and interest groups. All of these groups are made up of member volunteers who give their time and talents to the Society.

Volunteer Leadership

Board of Directors
The CPCU Society Board of Directors is comprised of elected officers, elected or appointed directors, and ex-officio members, has responsibility for defining Society policies and monitoring administration of the Society. The board meets at least twice a year, at the Leadership Summit and the Annual Meeting and Seminars.

Task Forces
Society task forces are created to meet one specific objective or complete one specific project or goal. Any member can share his or her time and talents on a task force. These groups, usually comprised of 12 to 15 CPCUs, meet as often as necessary until the goal is attained. At that time, the task force is dissolved, and its members are able to share their talents on other task forces.

Executive Committee
Between formal meetings of the Board of Directors, an Executive Committee, consisting of the President and Chairman/Chairwoman, President-Elect, Secretary, Treasurer; one third-year Director and one second-year Director elected by the Board to the Executive Committee, shall execute its policies. The Chief Executive Officer shall be an Ex-Officio member of the committee with voice but no vote. A majority of members shall constitute a quorum. Meeting proceedings should be recorded and reported to the Board except discussions held in executive session.

Chapters
Chapters are independent entities with their own charters, made up of individual CPCUs who live in the same geographical area and want to participate in local Society activities. Chapter activities support and reinforce the CPCU Society's objectives. Chapter officers are elected annually by chapter members.

Interest Groups
Society members may participate in all of the Society's 14 professional interest groups. Interest groups were formed to address members' specialized needs and interests, and to provide a forum for those working in specific product or functional lines. An interest group committee governs the activities of each interest group. Members of the interest group committees are appointed by the president, and new interest groups are approved by the Board of Governors.

Committees
The CPCU Society bylaws mandate four permanent standing committees: Budget & Finance, to oversee the prudent use of member dues money; Diversity, to advance the Society's diversity initiatives; Nominating, to assure the continued development and placement of the most able leaders; and Ethics, to provide for the integrity that is inherent in both the designation and the Society.
