Building Leaders One on One
by James L. Britt, CPCU

Building Leaders One on One reveals that leadership is not a formulated process, but rather a lifetime journey of collective one-on-one experiences. The author, 2007-2008 CPCU Society president, James L. Britt, CPCU, shares accounts of his relationships with successful people, both famous and ordinary. Britt's book illustrates how an individualized leadership style can begin to emerge, and how a style can be nurtured through lifelong encounters with teachers, mentors, coaches, and role models.

The MCS-90 Book: Truckers versus Insurers and the Government Makes Three
by the CPCU Society's CLEW Interest Group
The MCS-90 Book: Truckers versus Insurers and the Government Makes Three, published by the International Risk Management Institute (IRMI) is the result of a research project of the CPCU Society's Consulting, Litigation, & Expert Witness (CLEW) Interest Group.
The MCS-90 endorsement is a highly misunderstood and increasingly litigated one-page insurance endorsement required by the Motor Carrier Act of 1980 to be attached to policies covering auto liability exposures of certain types of businesses, such as motor carriers. Its purpose is to certify that the insured maintains a minimum level of financial responsibility for compensating others involved in truck accidents that result in bodily injury, property damage, or environmental damage. The book uncovers many potential pitfalls, coverage traps, underwriting concerns, and claims issues lying under the surface of this endorsement. Anyone who buys, sells, or underwrites insurance for motor carriers or adjusts trucking insurance claims will benefit from this book.

This research project was headed by CLEW Interest Group members Gregory G. Deimling, CPCU, ARM, AMIM, principal of Gregory G. Deimling and Associates and also a principal of Globe Insurance Agency, Inc.; George M. Gottheimer Jr., Ph.D., CPCU, CLU, ARe, president and CEO of Kernan Associates, Inc.; Donald S. Malecki, CPCU, chairman and CEO of Donald S. Malecki &Associates, Inc.; and Lynn S. Redmile, assistant secretary and director of research at Kernan Associates, Inc.
