Aligning Workers Compensation Technology with Business Results

Workers compensation claims represent unique challenges to carriers, risk managers, and third-party administrators (TPAs). Each of these respective groups has key issues and concerns that need to be addressed. First, this article examines how these groups perceive the importance of various issues and concerns. Second, the article describes how various technologies are being, or could be, used to address these key issues and concerns. Some suggested best practices are identified by industry practitioners. Measurements of the effectiveness of certain technologies are highlighted. Finally, the article measures the extent to which certain barriers may exist to prevent successful implementation of technology in workers compensation claims.

Workers Compensation Cost Comparisons (2000-2002)

This article focuses on the 25 jurisdictions with the highest total workers compensation costs during 2002, described as problem states. The claims cost and number of claims reported by NCCI is calculated per 100,000 workers, facilitating comparisons among the various states.
