Welcome
The Diversity Committee wants to inform all CPCU Society members of its efforts, as well as solicit your suggestions and recommendations on how to support the Society’s commitment to diversity. Please also view the latest Diversity Resources.

Background
In 2001, CPCU Society leadership established a Diversity Task Force charged with developing recommendations “to increase minority and gender participation at the local and national level of the CPCU Society by creating a positive and progressive environment for participation.” The recommendations were to align with the Society’s strategic plan goals of (1) increasing visibility of the CPCU designation; and (2) providing educational programs to members to position them for success.

In 2003, CPCU Society revised the Society’s mission statement to include diversity, and created the Diversity Plan Development Task Force. And in October 2004, the Society’s Board of Governors approved a motion to create a standing committee to further diversity within Society membership.

In 2005 the Board of Governors approved the formation of the Society’s first new standing committee, the Diversity Committee. The change in the bylaws, which created this new committee, was overwhelmingly approved by the general membership.

Message from the New Diversity Committee Co-Chairs – September 2008

CPCU Members,

Conversations about diversity are prevalent in the corporate and private business sectors, and the CPCU Society is no exception. Their commitment was clearly evident when the board approved the Diversity Task Force to become a standing committee in 2005. During the past 3 years, the committee has worked to determine how to effectively share information, tools and programs that embrace diversity .
