What’s It About?
This workshop highlights issues associated with requests for additional insured status, and the certificates of insurance that accompany such requests. It includes a state-by-state analysis of anti-indemnity statutes and any exceptions, and discusses recent changes in ISO forms that require the insurance and risk management professionals to be extra vigilant in exercising due diligence.

Who’s It For?
This workshop is designed for professionals who must protect the interests of their own and clients' organizations, including agents, brokers, underwriters, claims professionals, loss control professionals, risk managers and attorneys.

What’ You'll Learn
At the conclusion of this workshop, the attentive learner will be able to:

  • Understand why it is more complicated to obtain contractual liability and additional insured status in light of 2006 ISO changes.
  • Identify the basics of contractual risk transfer, including common law indemnity, categories of hold-harmless agreements and the fundamentals of a third-party-over action.
  • Understand reasons for requiring additional insured status on a primary basis.
  • Identify the latest ISO endorsements.
  • Recognize issues associated with the subject of insurance certificates.
  • Identify potential problems that may arise when a certificate of insurance is "manuscripted."

This workshop will discuss the “new dynamic” created by an ever-increasing shift in the marketing of products to consumers and businesses. It will paint a portrait of an effective risk management program, discussing the new exposures and how existing and newly designed policies address the loss exposures.

Who’s It For?
This workshop is designed for all insurance professionals and other professionals who must protect the interests of their “customers,” including agents/brokers, risk managers, underwriters, attorneys, accountants and business people concerned with the respective issues.

What’ You'll Learn
At the conclusion of this workshop, the attentive learner will be able to:

  • Identify the changes in the marketing of products to consumers and business.
  • Discuss the mechanics of operation of the e-commerce account.
  • Explore the exposures faced in the electronic commerce community.
  • Understand the importance of an effective risk management program.
  • Discuss the coverages available and deficiencies of the standard industry forms.
  • Introduce the new specialty forms available for the e-commerce account.

Instructor for Both Workshops
R. Bryan Tilden, CIC, CPCU, CLU, ARM, ALCM, ChFC, SCLA,
is a lecturer and expert witness in the field of insurance. Prior to starting Tilden and Associates, he was the director of technical affairs and director of education for the Independent Insurance Agents of North Carolina (IIANC). He entered the insurance business in 1974 as an account executive, and worked for major brokerage firms on Fortune 100 accounts throughout the USA. He specialized in large retention programs, utilizing the international insurance marketplace. Tilden has been active in insurance education as a grading panel member for the Insurance Institute of America and the American Institute for Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters. He has taught in every state in the U.S., and also teaches in Europe. He has served on the education and technical committees for the IIANC and worked with the State of North Carolina on pre-licensing and continuing education. In 1988, IIANC presented him with the Ernest F. Young Education Award, and in 1989 Agent of the Year. He has taught in schools for both the PIA and IIA, been a speaker at RIMS and CPCU meetings, and has spoken at various conventions. He is a national faculty member for the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors. An active volunteer in the fire and rescue services, Tilden is an internationally certified technical rescue instructor. He is a member of the International Association of Arson Investigators along with their North Carolina Chapter, and teaches arson investigation courses.
