Survey Finds Members Are Satisfied with the Society’s Web Site
More than 90 percent of CPCU Society members report that they are “somewhat” or “extremely” satisfied overall with the Society’s Web site, www.cpcusociety.org. That same proportion also considers the Society’s Web site to be equal or superior to the other internet sites they tend to visit.
In a web survey launched in June, 2009, almost 3,000 members responded to an e-mailed invitation to share their experiences using the Society’s Web site. In addition, members were asked about their comfort level with using the internet to conduct research and transactions, and with using social networking sites.
Web Savvy
CPCUs are pretty savvy users of the internet. More than eight out of every ten Society members access the internet daily, and are very comfortable with using the technology to search for information and, to a slightly lesser extent, to conduct transactions. In addition, more than one-half of all members have had some interaction on social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn. While younger members are more active on these sites, all age groups have members who report being involved.
Measuring Up
Results of the survey also show that the Society’s Web site measures up to member expectations in terms of the quality of its content and its usefulness, the ease of finding information, and the attractiveness of its design. Compared to a similar survey conducted in 2007, members are using the Society’s Web site more frequently, and doing more things once they are on it. In fact, the number one means by which members typically navigate to www.cpcusociety.org is by bookmarking the Web site as a favorite.
Members also told us that the top reason for visiting www.cpcusociety.org is for news about the Society, followed by Society event information (Annual Meeting and Seminars or the Leadership Summit). In addition, members use the Society’s Web site as a launch point for accessing chapter sites and newsletters. Many members will link to the Society’s Web site to find out more details on a story featured in e-LINK. Paying dues online completes the list of the top five reasons for visiting the site in 2009.
A Wealth of Resources
Several members expressed amazement at the wealth of information now available on the Society’s Web site. They were also concerned that their time constraints would prevent them from ever being able to fully utilize all of these resources. In response to this feedback, the Society will be featuring tips on how to make the most of this member benefit in future member publications like the CPCU News and e-LINK. Tutorials will also be created to help quickly acquaint CPCUs new to the Web site with the resources available.
