How to Maximize Your Returns
Optimize your return from the money, time and effort your organization and your employees invest in the CPCU designation by taking advantage of the following programs developed by the CPCU Society and AICPCU/IIA:

CPCU Society Champions
CPCU Champions are resource people in your organization you can call on to help promote professionalism, especially the CPCU designation. They are also your valuable source of information about the CPCU Society. Champions have volunteered to act as channels of communication to and from the CPCU Society. Champions help employees achieve success in the CPCU program and take advantage of the continuing educational benefits the Society offers.

CPCU Society Candidate Membership
CPCU students who have passed four or more CPCU exams are eligible to become candidate members of the CPCU Society. Candidate members have access to virtually all full member benefits for 50 percent of the regular member dues. Statistics show that candidate members are more likely to complete the CPCU program and earn the designation. Candidate membership is an important way for students to tap into the resources of the CPCU Society and increase their commitment to completing their designation program in a timely manner.

“Each One, Reach One” Campaign
Reaching out to potential new students is part of the core mission of each CPCU. The Society challenges its members to identify at least one person to begin the CPCU program and work with that person to give him/her a good strong start! Encourage your employees to participate in the “Each One Reach One” campaign. Your CPCUs are uniquely positioned to influence others and to promote professionalism through the attainment of the CPCU designation.

AICPCU/IIA Career Planning Resources
The AICPCU devotes resources to helping industry professionals incorporate professional development into their career paths. In addition to a staff of educational advisors, employers and individuals can consult “The CPCU Experience” and “Planning for Success” brochures. Professional development path materials are available for each major property/casualty insurance discipline.

Mentoring Programs
The CPCU Society and the AICPCU work jointly on programs to encourage students to continue their CPCU studies and earn the designation. Counseling is available from the AICPCU at the time the student begins the program to assure students select their best curriculum path. Outreach communications are sent when students begin the CPCU program and at milestone progress points. Special outreach is made to those who appear to have stalled in their progress or who have failed an exam. Students can request individual CPCU mentors within their areas of technical expertise, employer or local area. Encourage employees to be CPCU mentors. Encourage your management team to recognize their CPCU students along the way to keep them moving toward the goal!

Scholarships Programs
Through the CPCU-Loman Education Foundation, a separate non-profit entity, funding is available for scholarships and other educational endeavors. CPCU chapters work closely with the Foundation to access matching funds for their local scholarship programs. Through the AICPCU’s President’s CPCU Scholarship Program, 100 scholarships are awarded annually for students nominated by their company CEO or college president. This prestigious scholarship covers all CPCU study materials and exam fees a student needs to complete the CPCU program.

Promoting Insurance Careers
Win the war for new talent! The CPCU Society and the AICPCU are committed to promoting careers in the property/casualty insurance industry. To help develop the workforce of tomorrow, the Society and its chapters engage in various outreach programs with local high schools, community colleges and universities. These include distribution of materials describing careers in property/casualty insurance, career fairs, speech material for speakers’ bureaus, and scholarship programs. It also includes support of high school outreach programs such as Project InVEST and Junior Achievement, and furthering the development of insurance and risk management curriculum in institutions of higher learning. Encourage your employees to partner with CPCU’s to support these outreach programs. Help assure that talent continues to be developed to fill critically important jobs in our industry and in your organization. The payoff can be significant.
