What's It About?
Given the current swine flu outbreak and the increase to a World Health Organization Health Alert level 5, businesses and government entities need to ramp up their continuity plans to address the risks and challenges that could arise from a possible human pandemic. According to public health experts, a pandemic could escalate quickly, last for months, become cyclical and infect 25 percent or more of the world population. Many organizations believe that at the peak of a severe pandemic, up to 75 percent of the workforce may be absent from work.

Attendees of this timely webinar will learn about preventive and preparatory actions that can and should be taken now, including how to:

  • Prioritize business activities, and review and understand potential impact upon your supply chains.

  • Assess company travel policies, hygiene, and medical screening policies.

  • Identify ways to minimize the spread of illness within the work place.

  • Assess methods for providing ongoing information about both the pandemic threat and the status of the business to employees at work and at home.

  • Plan for staff to work at home where possible and appropriate.

  • Assess vital processes that must be maintained at a central location in a pandemic, such as call centers, health services and services vital to the vulnerable.

  • Review the structure necessary to manage the crisis effectively. This includes how to implement multiple business continuity plans; cope with significant increases in the number of employees working from home; and react to substantial changes to the marketplace and the supply chain.

  • Ensure that crisis management and business continuity management plans include pandemic scenarios; and exercise the plans where feasible.

Who’s It For?
This is a must attend program for anyone responsible for risk management, human resources, safety/loss control and crisis management/business continuity within their own or client organizations.

Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this webinar, the attentive learner will be able to:

  • Identify methods to upgrade business continuity and crisis management plans now for a Pandemic Health Alert 5 and possible increase to level 6.

  • Design and implement additional strategies to proactively deal with an extended pandemic.

  • Identify methods to support employees, customers, and other stakeholders in a pandemic event.
