Developing Critical Thinking Skills

One's ability to analyze and work well is critical for both personal and organizational success. Thinking effectively is hard work, and it is often easier to rely upon past patterns and habits. This course utilizes techniques to develop and expand reasoning skills in an effort to meet greater success.

Presenter

John W. Egan, CPCU, is a co-founder and chief learning officer of the Ripken Leadership Center, a subsidiary of Cal Ripken, Jr. Enterprises, a management and organization development consulting firm. Egan has worked for USF&G Insurance the Injured Workers Insurance Fund of Maryland (IWIF). He has worked with companies throughout the United States to design and facilitate leadership development and change management programs, to support performance management initiatives, and to conduct strategic planning courses. Egan combines a broad business background with an organization development expertise to help organizations leverage their human resources potential to achieve competitive advantages.

Egan has authored articles on leadership development and change management and currently serves as an adjunct faculty member at the Federal Executive Institute in Charlottesville, VA and the CPCU Society Center for Leadership. He is a member of the Academy of Management and the Chesapeake Bay Organization Development Network.

Egan received his Bachelors degree from Ohio Wesleyan University. He also earned a Masters in Education from Syracuse University and a Masters in Applied Behavioral Science from Johns Hopkins University. He has completed coursework for his Doctorate at The George Washington University.
