March 2010 – Ethics Awareness Month

The CPCU Society is inviting chapters to join us in celebrating Ethics Awareness Month in March. The Society encourages all chapters to sponsor an ethics awareness activity in March to educate members and generate discussion about ethics, ethical values and decision making.

What Can You Do to Promote Ethics Awareness?
In recent years, some chapters have developed outstanding activities to promote ethical awareness, including inviting guest speakers to their monthly meeting to talk about ethics; creating a game or trivia contest for members to play during their meeting; or visiting schools to talk with students about the importance of ethical behavior.

If you’re looking for some great ideas on how to celebrate and promote Ethics Awareness Month, be sure to check out the CPCU Society’s Web site.

Chapter Ethics Awareness Month Program Contest!
The Society will again sponsor its Ethics Awareness Month contest. The chapter with the most unique idea of how to promote and celebrate ethics will receive a monetary prize, as well as recognition from other chapters at the Society’s 2010 CPCU Society Leadership Summit in Phoenix this April.

Last year, the Houston Chapter won the Chapter Ethics contest for its creative approach to Ethics Awareness Month. The chapter held a combined meeting with the RIMS Society Chapter of Houston. Attorney Jamie Cooper with Martin, Disiere, Jefferson & Wisdom, LLP a law firm in Houston, Texas, presented one hour of Ethics continuing education in the form of the game show Family Feud.

To be considered, please send Jennifer Polachek an e-mail summarizing your 2010 Ethics program or fill out the online submission form by April 1.

The CPCU Society is proud of how its chapters embrace Ethics Awareness Month every March, and we hope this enthusiasm will continue throughout the entire year!
