IBM Presents On the Use of Technology in the P/C Industry
Daniel M. Yellin, Ph.D., director, software technology, IBM, and an IBM Distinguished Engineer, lead a valuable presentation on user-friendly translation of changes coming in core technology, and the impact on P/C insurance industry operations; privacy and compliance issues for insurers in the 50 states; and disaster recovery plans for business continuity and workforce management. Yellin explained that the industry is changing in response to many of today's technological advances. "Technology continues to reproduce rapidly," said Yellin. "We believe it will continue to have more and more of an impact on the way we do business."

Donald J. Hurzeler Named 2004-2005 CPCU Society President
The 2004-2005 CPCU Society officers and governors were installed yesterday during the Society’s Annual Business Meeting. Donald J. Hurzeler, CPCU, CLU, an executive with Zurich Insurance, was named CPCU Society president, replacing Hugh B. McGowan, CPCU. In addition, Millicent W. Workman, CPCU, was named president-elect, Betsey L. Brewer was named vice president, and Larry Klein, CPCU, continues his three-year term as secretary-treasurer.

CPCUs Learn Real-World Concepts During Leadership and Development Seminars
In addition to the property and casualty education seminars, the Annual Meeting offered expert training in leadership best practices and career management. CPCUs attended specialized seminars on career management concepts such as building high performance teams, succeeding during times of conflict and change, and culture competence for leaders.

2005 Annual Meeting Attendees Will Get Their Careers in Gear in Atlanta
Don Hurzeler, CPCU, conducted his first order of business as president of the CPCU Society and announced the theme and location of the CPCU Society’s 61st Annual Meeting and Seminars. CPCUs will convene in Atlanta, Georgia, October 22-25, 2005, to the theme: “Get Your Career in Gear.” Hurzeler will preside over this meeting.
