Tell us about yourself as a professional.
I started my insurance career right out of college and I have been hooked ever since! I recently made the move from personal lines underwriting to commercial agribusiness underwriting. I'm enjoying the challenge and learning about unique commercial agribusiness risks.
One skill that I've been working on lately is emotional intelligence.
Tell us about something you enjoy outside of work.
My husband and I have a side business raising cattle on our acreage in Iowa. We've learned so much on our new business venture and it's been fun to watch our 2-year-old daughter get involved as well. I love that my job in commercial agribusiness underwriting ties back to our way of life.
Why are you passionate about working in insurance?
My career in insurance combines my interest in business and passion for helping others. I'm passionate about the insurance industry because there are so many opportunities to grow. Insurance has been around for a long time and isn't going away any time soon, so I feel secure in my job.
In your opinion, what’s the best thing about being a CPCU Society member?
Being able to volunteer my time with this organization while gaining leadership experience in return. I've also been able to network with many wonderful people and have had opportunities come up that I never would have had if not for the CPCU Society.
