Tell us about yourself as a professional.
I've been in the insurance industry for 19 years and have held various roles such as claims adjuster, underwriter, product specialist, underwriting manager and currently, Vice President of Underwriting. I hold 11 designations in addition to my MBA and PMP (Project Management Professional). I've made it a point to gain exposure to multiple lines of business but would have to say personal lines is where my expertise lies. My career has allowed me the unique opportunity to manage varying risk across the country from Washington to Connecticut and North Dakota to Mississippi.
Tell us about something you enjoy outside of work.
I enjoy working with the CPCU Society Chapters in providing relevant continuing education content, opportunities to network with other insurance professionals, and ability to give back to the local communities through charitable works. I especially enjoy the new adventures travel provides but spend most of my time these days cheering on my children in softball, football, and wrestling.
Why are you passionate about working in insurance and/or risk management?
I am passionate about working in insurance because it has so much to offer. I have been able to explore various career paths, learn about the many types of insurance, mentor others, and continue to be challenged every day. I gain much satisfaction knowing that our industry is there to help people through difficult times by providing a financial safety net and a kind and caring network of professionals that will be there by their side in their time of need.
In your opinion, what’s the best thing about being a CPCU Society member?
The best thing about being a CPCU Society member are the many opportunities for networking, continuing education, volunteer leadership, and community outreach. I've met some of the most passionate, supportive, and knowledgeable people in the industry as a CPCU Society member.
